The latest round of WWS grants is now open. Grants can be submitted online until 12 pm on Tuesday, 9 March 2021.

Nominations are now being sought for the new-look 2021 WasteSorted Awards.
Formerly known as the Infinity Awards, the 2021 WasteSorted Awards will celebrate Western Australia's waste champions making positive waste change and recognise innovative solutions to reduce waste and improve reuse and recycling.
Open to individuals, business and industry, government, schools, community organisations, not-for-profits and media outlets, the categories for 2021 include:
- Avoid Recover Protect - Community Waste Award
- Avoid Recover Protect - Commercial and Industrial Waste Award
- Avoid Recover Protect - Waste Management Award
- Avoid Recover Protect - WA Regional Waste Award
- 2021 Waste Champion
- 2021 Young Waste Achiever
- Waste Team of the Year
- Waste Innovation of the Year
- Waste Wise School of the Year
- Media Award
- A further two awards - the 2021 WA Waste Award and the 2021 Waste Initiative of the Year - may be awarded at the judge's discretion.
Nominations for the 2021 WasteSorted Awards are now open and will close at 5pm (WST) on Tuesday February, 2 2021. Late entries will not be accepted.

Waste Wise Schools 10 steps to getting your WasteSorted
Check out the new guide that will help your school make landfill the last resort in 10 simple steps. It will show you how to assess your school's waste and put in place successful systems that integrate waste avoidance and recovery into all aspects of school life including infrastructure, education, and the whole school and community. The guide is supported by the new online professional learning module and is available now on the Waste Wise Schools website:

Professional learning online
Waste Wise Schools have developed an introductory online learning module for teachers. This means you will be able to complete Step 1 of your accreditation process at any time and will not be limited to a scheduled workshop or webinar. You will receive a certificate of completion for professional learning. Register here

Join the team from Waste Wise Schools for a hands-on look at sorting your school waste.
The workshop will include:
- The new WWS 10 steps to getting your WasteSorted
- New tools for assessing your school waste
- Setting up your waste sorting stations at school
- Containers for change and how to do it at your school
- How to engage students
- Behaviour change in schools
The workshop is suitable for school staff including teachers, principals, administration staff and parents. It is FREE and teacher relief payments are available for two staff from each school.

Join the team from Waste Wise Schools and Keep Australia Beautiful to learn about litter prevention and waste reduction.
This workshop will inspire students to reduce waste and litter.
It includes:
- a step-by-step guide on how to run a whole school waste and litter prevention campaign
- loads of resources to take back to your school–USBs, posters, booklets
- laws relating to litter, social and environmental impacts and behaviour change
- how to get started with waste avoidance and resource recovery projects
- tools for getting your school Waste Sorted.
- information on how to become an accredited Waste Wise School and apply for grant funding
- a tour of the materials recovery facility so enclosed shoes are essential.
The workshop is suitable for principals, teachers, EAs, gardeners and parents.It is recommended two staff attend to help with planning for your school.
Following COVID-19 guidelines, we are restricted to 20 spaces. Full day teacher relief is provided, maximum two per school.

Worms Q&A session
Have you got a worm farm at your school that isn’t quite working the way it should or are you interested in setting one up? Then join us for this live event to hear from a school who is doing it well and have a chance to troubleshoot and ask your own questions. Starting with a 10-minute presentation on worm farms in schools, the session will then open up to questions from attendees.

A full day of ‘down to earth’ fun
Join CREEC and the Australian Association for Environmental Education (AAEE-WA) in celebrating this international event that is recognised by more than 150 countries around the world. A whole day excursion filled with fun, interactive activities provided by environmental organisations that are passionate about the future of our planet, including Waste Wise Schools. Years 2 - 6. Limit of two classes per school.
