    Join the team from WasteSorted Schools and Keep Australia Beautiful Council to learn how to avoid and recover waste, and protect our environment, through litter prevention and waste reduction. This workshop includes:

    • a step-by-step guide on how to run a whole school waste and litter prevention program
    • loads of resources to take back to your school
    • laws relating to litter, social and environmental impacts and behaviour change
    • how to get started with waste avoidance and resource recovery projects
    • information on how to become an accredited WasteSorted School and apply for grant funding
    • resources and incursions available
    • a presentation by and tour of Bannister Creek Primary School to see their waste initiatives.

    The workshop is suitable for school staff who are new to the WasteSorted Schools and Clean Schools programs including teachers, principals, EAs, administration staff, gardeners and parents.

    The workshop is FREE and teacher relief reimbursements are available for two staff from each school.

    Time: 10.30am – 2.30pm 

    Venue: Lynwood Senior High School (436 Metcalf Road, Parkwood) 

    This event is for high school students and staff who want to work together to drive change in waste and sustainability at their school.  

    Students will have the opportunity to hear from other secondary students about successful waste and sustainability projects they have implemented. Students from presenting schools will share what they have set up, how they run it, and how they engage the rest of the school. A maximum of 20 students per school will be accepted at registration. Please email hannah.lalor@dwer.wa.gov.au if you require additional student tickets. 

    Tours of Lynwood Senior High School will be on offer at the beginning of the event, which will showcase their waste and sustainability projects in action, plus a sustainability expo will be available for students and staff to engage with during lunchtime. The sustainability expo will have a range of stalls with a mix of organisations that work in the sustainability space and stalls organised by students from Lynwood Senior High School!

    Catering: 

    • A light morning tea will be provided for all attendees, please bring your own lunch.  

    Relief reimbursement: 

    • Half day teacher relief reimbursement is available for up to two teachers per school and will be paid after the event.  

    Bus hire subsidy:

    • Assessing your waste
    • Setting up infrastructure
    • Student involvement
    • Curriculum for high school
    • Hands-on activities

    The workshop is suitable for secondary school staff including teachers, principals, administration staff and parents.

    The workshop is FREE and teacher relief reimbursements are available for two staff from each school.

    This workshop will include:

    • Information about becoming an accredited WasteSorted School
    • Examples of best practice waste infrastructure at schools
    • WasteSorted Schools resources (curriculum, toolkits, fact sheets etc)
    • Activities to help you update your waste and recycling policy and yearly planner
    • Hands-on activity

    The workshop is suitable for primary and secondary school staff including teachers, principals, EAs, administration staff, gardeners and parents.

    The workshop is FREE and teacher relief reimbursements are available for two staff from each school.
