    Complete this online introductory learning module at any time to learn how to get your school involved in the Waste Wise Schools program.  

    The module will cover:

    • A little bit about Waste Wise Schools
    • Why waste is a problem
    • Steps to becoming a Waste Wise School
    • How to become accredited
    • Some project ideas for your school
    • Resources that are available to you, such as curriculum materials and grants for schools.

    Venue: Herdsman Lake Discovery Centre, Wembley

    Join the team from WasteSorted Schools for a hands-on look at sorting your school waste.

    The workshop will include:

    • simple steps to getting your WasteSorted
    • tools for assessing your school waste
    • setting up waste sorting stations at school
    • how to engage students
    • behaviour change in schools
    • strategies and activities for avoiding single-use plastic

    The workshop is suitable for school staff including teachers, principals, administration staff and parents.

    The workshop is FREE and teacher relief payments are available for two staff from each school.

    Date: Wednesday 10th August

    Time: 9am – 3pm

    Venue: The Wetlands Centre, Cockburn

    Join the team from WasteSorted Schools, Keep Australia Beautiful Council, City of Cockburn and the Resource Recovery Group to learn how to avoid and recover waste, and protect our environment, through litter prevention and waste reduction. This workshop includes:

    • a step-by-step guide on how to run a whole school waste and litter prevention program
    • loads of resources to take back to your school
    • laws relating to litter, social and environmental impacts and behaviour change
    • how to get started with waste avoidance and resource recovery projects
    • information on how to become an accredited WasteSorted School and apply for grant funding
    • resources and incursions available
    • a virtual look at the Canning Vale Resource Recovery Centres
    • a presentation from Beeliar PS, the winner of WasteSorted School of the year 2022

    The workshop is suitable for school staff including teachers, principals, EAs, administration staff, gardeners and parents.

    The workshop is FREE and teacher relief payments are available for two staff from each school.

    Venue: John Curtin College of the Arts, Fremantle

    This event is for secondary school students who want to drive change in waste and sustainability at their school. Hear from other secondary students about successful waste management and sustainability practices they have implemented. They will share ideas and experiences about what they have set up, how they run it, and how they engage the rest of the school.

    Tours of John Curtin College will be on offer to see their sustainability in action.

    There will also be a guest speaker, sustainability stall holders, a chance to network with students from other high schools, and light refreshments provided at the end.

They will share ideas and experiences about how they have created a successful program including set up, maintenance, engaging students and the wider school community.
