Strategic Waste Initiatives Scheme

SWIS supported waste projects from 2004 to 2015

From 2004 to 2015, the Strategic Waste Initiatives Scheme (SWIS) provided over $6 million to implement more than 90 community, industry and local government waste initiatives, all over Western Australia. It was funded from the Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Account and supported the objectives and targets of the Waste Authority’s Waste Strategy: Creating the Right Environment.

The Community and Industry Engagement program (CIE) is the current State Government program administered by the Waste Authority which supports projects that contribute to the Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Strategy 2030 (the Waste Strategy) objectives and targets.

For more information, refer to the CIE page, or contact the Programs team at: cie@dwer.wa.gov.au

The Authority regularly reviews its grants programs, to enhance governance and support a wider range of initiatives that intend to contribute to the achievement of the Strategy’s objectives.
