Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council

The Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council coordinates several school waste education programs in Perth's Eastern Region on behalf of its member councils: Bayswater, Bassendean, Kalamunda, Mundaring and Swan.

Incursions are available for school and community groups free of charge in the region. Incursions are only available for ≥ Year 3 students. Topics include:

  • Recycling/bin Basics
  • Circular Economy / Low – Impact Living
  • Waste audits
  • Bin sort games

Resource Recovery Group

The Resource Recovery Group (formerly known as the Southern Metropolitan Regional Council (SMRC) is a local government entity comprised of three local governments in Perth’s south-west metropolitan region: East Fremantle, Fremantle and Melville. It develops innovative and sustainable waste management solutions for the benefit of communities and the environment.

Canning Vale Recycling Centre Tour
Your school could come along on a tour of the Resource Recovery Group Canning Vale Centre, the premier recycling and composting facility in Western Australia. Our custom-built education centre has specially designed observation decks to enable visitors to see what happens to materials placed in their yellow-lidded recycling bins. Each tour is tailored to suit the audience/age and incorporates interactive events.

Western Metropolitan Regional Council

The Western Metropolitan Regional Council (WMRC) is a local government organisation formed to provide specialist waste management services and education for its five Member Councils of Claremont, Cottesloe, Mosman Park, Peppermint Grove and Subiaco.

School Waste Education Day
The WMRC runs its award-winning School Waste Education Day which aims to teach the top five G.R.E.A.T. behaviours of: gifting, recycling, earth-cycling, avoiding, and taking, encouraging students to do better than landfill and get waste in the right place.

This is a high energy, interactive waste education day filled with age-appropriate activities for kids in Kindy, PP and 1-6. Complete the School Waste Education Day form on the website.

West Metro Recycling Centre Tour
See how a transfer station and recycling centre works with a tour of the Recycling Centre in Shenton Park. Designed for smaller groups of secondary school kids. Email community@wmrc.wa.gov.au to organise your tour.
