WasteSorted Schools gardens

Vegetable gardens enable schools to complete the organic recycling loop

Schools from Esperance to Kununurra are setting up WasteSorted Schools gardens as terrific outdoor classrooms for students. Students benefit from planning, building and planting their own food garden, in a myriad of ways! They are able to use the food waste they create to make compost and worm castings to feed their plants, closing the loop on organic recycling.

Often schools set up a student 'Green team' and buddy systems to share the tasks in their waste management and gardening program. Students learn from their peers and are empowered with leadership opportunities. They gain social and environmental skills and knowledge for life
