The Authority operates two grant schemes, one aimed at community groups and individuals and the other at business. In both cases there are normally two rounds offered each year.

The Community Grants Scheme (CGS) has been operating since 2004.

The CGS is offered through two rounds each year. It is advertised on our website, local newspapers, social media and radio. Subscribers to the Waste Authority’s newsletter are also invited to apply via email notification.

Applications are assessed by the CGS Assessment Panel  and recommendations made to the Authority. A final announcement by the Minister for Environment confirms the successful applications.

CGS projects can commence as soon as a contract agreement has been entered into between the Authority and the grant recipient. CGS projects are regularly monitored for compliance with agreed project outcomes. Grant recipients are required to submit final project reports, which are posted on the website to share project outcomes and learnings.

All subscribers to our Newsletter are automatically informed of the next application round. You can subscribe by completing the ‘Subscribe to News’ section on our homepage.

The Authority is currently reviewing its grants programs, including the Strategic Waste Initiatives Scheme (SWIS). SWIS was in operation between 2004 and 2015, and will be incorporated into a new grants program. The review is expected to be completed by June 2016.
