How to become a Waste Wise School

The Waste Wise Schools program provides support to schools across Western Australia to promote better waste management practices and behaviours, with a focus on waste avoidance and recovery. It also develops positive environmental values in students and the whole school community. Waste Wise Schools practice responsible waste management and environmental behaviours through hands-on learning experiences that are linked to the Australian Curriculum.

Waste Wise Schools (WWS) is a State government program administered by the Waste Authority. It offers resources and support for schools to plan, implement and maintain waste avoidance and waste recovery/reuse projects such as recycling, composting and worm farming.

The program helps schools to set up infrastructure and provides resources aimed at changing attitudes and behaviour in regard to sustainable waste management. It is provided free of charge and is available to all schools in Western Australia.
