Landfill Waste Classification and Waste Definitions 1996 (As Amended)
This document is intended to provide a quick reference for the criteria to be applied generally in determining the acceptance of wastes to various classes of landfill in Western Australia. More stringent waste acceptance criteria than those listed in this document may be imposed by landfill operators. Similarly, Department of Environment licence conditions may apply more stringent acceptance criteria as appropriate.

The Social Optimum for Landfill Levy in WA »
A 2011 paper by Paul Schollum through the University. The key purpose of the Landfill Levy in Western Australia is to set the price of landfill so that alternatives such as recycling are more cost competitive. Ideally, the value of the Landfill Levy should be equal to the environmental costs of landfill (otherwise known as landfill externalities). This dissertation has estimated the value of landfill externalities in the Perth Metropolitan Region.

Landfill Waste Classification and Waste Definitions 1996 (As amended) »
This document is intended to provide guidance and criteria to be applied in determining the classification of wastes for acceptance to landfills licensed or registered in Western Australia in accordance with Part V of the Environmental Protection Act 1986. More stringent waste acceptance criteria than those listed in this document may be imposed by landfill operators. Similarly, Department of Environment (DoE) licence conditions may apply more stringent acceptance criteria as appropriate. Where additional guidance is required, landfill operators should contact the relevant licensing officer using the contact information provided in the licence.
