Grants
The Community Grants Scheme (CGS) and the Strategic Initiatives Grant Scheme (SWIS) have been operating since 2004. The SWIS was suspended in 2011, pending a review of better ways to target and support the sort of projects that will align with the priorities of the Authority. In 2012 it has been relaunched as a targeted grant scheme which seeks to address specific areas of priority as determined by the Authority and uses an Expression of Interest (EOI) process to select the successful recipient. SWIS grants are now offered on an ad hoc basis as project work is required and reflected in the specific EOI.
The EOI notification is by way of this website and an email campaign to subscribers.
For the CGS, two rounds of grants are offered each year with advertisements in the local newspapers, by way of newsletter subscription and also on this website.
Once applications have been received, they are assessed by a panel and recommendations are then made to the Authority. Final announcements by the Minister for Environment confirm the successful applications.
Once an contract agreement has been entered into with the grant recipient, the project commences and is regularly monitored for compliance with agreed milestones and outcomes. Final reports are posted on the website as well as any additional documents such as research reports.
All subscribers to our Newsletter are automatically informed of when the next round of grants are made available. You can subscribe by filling on the section on our homepage.
