Community Grants awarded

Round 1 of the Community Grants Scheme has been announced by the Minister for Environment, Stephen Dawson. The Minister's media release is here.

Re-inventors Award

Science students from Carey Baptist College received their Young Re-inventors Award as the Minister for Environment, Albert Jacob and the Authority Chairman Marcus Geisler inspected their edible wall garden.

The award was supported by the Waste Authority and managed by the South East Regional Energy Group "Switch Your Thinking" team.

The Minister inspects the garden which provides herbs to the school's cooking classes.

Pilbara waste priorities

The Pilbara Development Commission (PDC) and the Waste Authority are working together to improve waste management systems and outcomes with a soon to be released draft Pilbara Waste Priorities Assessment.

The partnership between the two agencies is a natural fit and the PDC media release regarding the assessment is here.

C&D Recycling Trial

East Fremantle wanted to increase the proportion of C&D waste generated within its jurisdiction that is recycled. The town undertook a pilot trial of a Resource Kit for Recycling C&D Waste at domestic demolition projects. The kit contains information on recycling facilities for common C&D waste materials in the vicinity and is intended to assist owner/builders and/or project managers to recycle as much as possible.
